The Razer Expert MMO Gaming Keyboard could be designed for massive multiplayer games
The Razer Expert MMO Gaming Keyboard could be designed for massive multiplayer games but it functions extremely well for general computer use and also other gaming like first person shooters.
Ease of Use, Functionality: 21/25
Features 25/25
How much I love 20/25
Complete: 89/100
The Razer Anansi is not only another redesigned keyboard but has additional attributes not found on any other keyboard I have seen, a whole set of thumb buttons for MMO macro duties. The Razer Anansi is an MMO or huge multiplayer on-line gaming keyboard but is also amazing for other gaming.
The Razer Anansi just comes with the Anansi keyboard and the customary manuals and certificate of authenticity, the drivers for the keyboard are available for downloading from the Razer site. The Anansi is a full sized computer keyboard about 20 inches wide and 7 1/2 inches front to rear with about an inch in height but also has two half inch bracing feet.
The Razer Anansi uses macro duties for any specific commands but has keys for the routine keyboard set along with the normal number pad, arrow set plus function keys. You have the set of five macro keys along the left side of the main keyboard set and another set of thumbnail macro keys below the space bar for MMO gaming.
While the thumb buttons work well in gaming the side keys are a bit challenging to use in the heat of gaming because they are situated a bit too far to the left side of the computer keyboard. The thumbnail keys however are made for rapid use and easy accessibility using your left thumb while gaming in both MMO games and others.
I prefer to use the side set of keys as application shortcut keys to open programs I use regularly like Outlook, Firefox, Windows Media player and my current Blu-ray movie player. You can also use them in games for functions you do not use very frequently but still need a easy one stroke key for macros or simple functions.
The Razer Anansi does have the now common Razer colour changing scheme where you can place a single shade or have the keys backlighting rotate through the color spectrum. In order to power this backlighting the Razer Anansi does require a little more power than one USB connection puts out so the Anansi has two USB connections.
I personally do not use USB connections on my peripherals as I feel that a USB hub is a better way to handle your computers cabling.
The Anansi also has up to 20 profiles accessible thus for just about every kind of computer use from gaming to image editing and general web surfing you can have a profile for key assignments.
The set of side keys are also fully programmable but they are at an odd placement for use in a game but work nicely for use in other applications or for general web surfing. I have used them as software opening buttons for quick and easy use of my email and other commonly used applications.
Like any keyboard and mouse the use of a set of macro buttons for gaming adds a fast way to perform functions like charms or special skills.
The buttons for MMO gaming or any other keys are easily assigned to whatever you enjoy as well as macros for use in games, a macro is a set of duties using multiple keys or with additional time delays. Macros are useful in gaming but being able to assign any key of the keyboard really makes the Razer computer keyboards fully working and a great keyboard.
Razer has a settings program for all their keyboards that make the best use of the computer keyboard and assigning macros or any of the key strokes. The application is available from the Razer website and installs fast with a restart wanted to completely install the application.
Razer has done a lot to make their keyboards totally featured and even with the occasional difficulty with this one I do have to say this makes a wonderful keyboard for MMO gamers. I did not like the use of the function keys for other assignments like the multimedia as my first person shooter gaming intervenes at times.
I did find that when I needed to change seat locations while gaming in my current favorite FPS game, Battlefield Bad Company 2, I would frequently mute the game using the keys. The multimedia keys for volume are set as the function keys, F1 through F3, using the function button and would activate when pressed while in the game.
This meant while gaming the volume would cut in and outside because I was hitting the change seat for vehicles but was readily corrected by hitting the volume up button. Whilewas easy to fix in game it's only one annoying feature in a otherwise almost perfect keyboard.
I did like using the Razer Anansi for over a month as my primary keyboard and have become fairly used to it, the keyboard works well and is simple to use for both gaming and writing. I highly urge the Razer Anansi for MMO gamers who need the use of additional assignable keys which are easy to use in game on your thumb.
First person gaming is probably the main type of gaming going on at the minute with huge hits like Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Halo. So it is vital you're consistently playing your best. First person shooter gaming isn't difficult, however these tips can improve your abilities.
Perceptions:
As everything us humans do, seeing and hearing drastically help us with every endeavor we do. It's the same with gaming, especially first person shooters where you're going to have to act upon your adversaries faster than them.
Seeing
If you are anything like me, I have a tendency to get really attached to your match and end up extremely near my display - If it is a case your primary focus is going to be on the guts of your screen, rather than the whole screen. So relax, and make certain you are considering the whole display, since if you are walking along and an enemy pops out from the left of your screen you are going to take longer to react to seeing him because he's not in your focus - in FPS gaming reaction time is everything. So be sure to see your whole display, middle, left and right by sitting back.
Hearing
This is where becoming attached to the game can actually help you. Sound is an enormous awareness of the body, which explains why its great to be using your ears as much as your eyes. But that is really not what I'm likely to get it. Get yourself earphones if you haven't already, or a good speaker system. I can tell you that this may play a huge role in getting yourself better at gaming. It is a enormous edge understanding where a shot has been fired, whether it came from the left or right or straight on. You also can tell how much an enemy is in the loudness of a shot allowing you to virtually nail a location to look. I can not stress this tip enough, there is many times I have not been thinking and put my headset in the wrong way around and the sounds have been inverted, I have noticed readily from playing a game that I have did this as the sound is perplexing me.
Equipment
I have already went through getting a great pair of earphones. Nevertheless this really is added gear that will help a good number.
A great computer screen, or HDMI TV Now, I never really thought this would truly effect much on gameplay but I can say it is after experiencing after Christmas a new monitor and HDMI TV. Recently Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 came out, and I played the coop stages with my brother on his Xbox 360. The first time we did so he had a extremely horrible TV. I actually gave up playing because I could not see the enemies. Basically all I am saying here is ensure that you have a good enough TV or computer screen to make sure the show of your game is crisp and clear.
Mics (On-Line gaming encounters merely)
Most games nowadays support cans. Headphones can be essential for your success in a game if it's a team gamemode of any sort, in any game. Often these gamemodes are Team Deathmatch or Capture the Flag. Talking to your own team rather than typing to them (PC only) could be a huge help - say you needed a medic, and you were going to die in 10 seconds if you were not treated. On a PC you would have to spend about 5 seconds, if you are adequate at typing, asking for help if a medic has not noticed you are down. On an console generally there's no other solution to talk apart from using the microphone. Little scenarios such as this can assist you a lot, in addition to being able to plan tactical strategies against your enemy team.
Judgment
Make sure all your perceptions are being used to the best of their ability for playing the game, as in first person shooters your greatest weapon is your reaction time. I expect this was a good read, joyful killing!
